Congratulations to all winners and participants of the Novice Strongman Championship held in conjunction with Pesta Kaul Mukah 2025!
The event, organised by MYSED Mukah in collaboration with the Sarawak Strongest Man Association, took place on 27 April 2025 at the Pesta Kaul Mukah grounds. A total of 22 novice athletes competed, representing regions across Sarawak, with three competitors from Sabah and a delegate from Brunei adding international flair to the competition.
This year’s edition featured a unique twist, blending local heritage and daily routines of the Mukah community with traditional strongman challenges. The events included:
Mukah-inspired routines:
- Wood sawing
- River stone lifting
- Sago log and water barrel race (90kg)
Classic strongman challenges:
- 95kg Atlas Stone to Shoulder
- Saloon Car Deadlift
- Tyre Flip
🏆 Winners of the Pesta Kaul Mukah Strongman Championship:
Champion: Charles Khoo – Sabah
1st Runner-Up: Riolio Martin – Sabah
2nd Runner-Up: Ferdinandus Leonards – Sabah
The champion took home a trophy, medal, certificate, and RM1,000 in cash, while the second and third place winners received RM800 and RM200 respectively, along with trophies, medals, and certificates.
The prize-giving ceremony was officiated by Mr. Hasbullah, Youth Camp Officer of Mukah, representing MYSED and Persatuan Melanau Mukah. Also present was Mr. Mohd Tarmizi Karnain, Secretary of Pemuda N58 Balingian.
A special appreciation goes out to the entire organising committee, led by Cikgu Marcos Anak Enggai, for the smooth execution of the event.
To all the participants—your courage and effort are commendable. And to those who didn’t make the podium, remember: every defeat carries the seed of future victory.
