AMPANG, 26 October — Raw power and extraordinary human strength took center stage as Malaysia’s Strongest Man & Woman 2025 concluded last night at D’Star Arena Sports Complex, crowning a new line-up of national champions after two intense days of competition.
In the Men’s Open category, Mohd Fazim bin Ahmad (Selangor) claimed the overall title after a shaky start but made a remarkable comeback to overtake Zarol Alfiyan (Kuala Lumpur) and Adli Arfan bin Amran (Pahang), who finished second and third respectively. Danish bin Baskaran (Johor) and Muhammad Nasrul Hakim (Putrajaya) completed the top five.
The Men’s Under 105kg division saw Muhammad Nur Arif bin Mohd Khalil (Selangor) crowned as champion, followed by Syahir Osman (Johor) in second place and Elvick Sigar Padan (Sarawak) in third. Allen Chooi Siew Loon (Perak) and Nabil Alias (Kuala Lumpur) finished fourth and fifth respectively. Nur Arif also earned the prestigious title of Overall Best Male Athlete of Malaysia’s Strongest Man 2025, thanks to his consistent top-tier performance across all events.
In the Men’s Under 80kg category, Akmal Ali (Selangor) made a powerful return to the scene after a long hiatus, dominating every event to secure first place. Lam Jia Ding (Johor) and Rioleo Martin (Sarawak) followed closely behind in second and third. Muhammad Redzuan bin Rosli (Sarawak) and Hafizul Yazid (Kuala Lumpur) completed the top five.
The Women’s Open division witnessed fierce competition, with veteran strongwoman Joyce Heng Shu Xia (Johor) emerging victorious after leading the scoreboard throughout the event. Nur Athirah Hee binti Abdullah (Johor) and Syhra Philip (Sarawak) claimed second and third places, while Faridah binti Mohamad (Labuan) and Nuramimah Azahar (Putrajaya) rounded up the top five. Joyce also received special recognition as the Best Female Athlete of Malaysia’s Strongest Woman 2025 for her technical excellence and consistent dominance across all disciplines.
In the Women’s Under 70kg category, rising star Damia Emilsya binti Mohd Zakaria (Johor) stunned the crowd by outperforming her senior competitors to capture the title. Nur Aika Farina binti Harun Hakimi (Johor) and Nur Anis binti Mohd Faruk (Johor) finished second and third, while Flavia Manie Luntak (Labuan) and Priscilla Rebekah Pengiran (Sarawak) secured fourth and fifth places respectively.
From a team standpoint, Johor clinched the Overall State Champion title with 67 points, ahead of Selangor (40 points) and Sarawak (37 points). Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Perak followed in the middle of the rankings, while Pahang, Putrajaya, and Sabah completed the standings.
The event was further highlighted by the presentation of the Sports Matching Grant mock cheque by Mr. Jasalilawadi bin Jahi, Senior Assistant Director (Sports Development Division) from the Department of Youth and Sports, Selangor, symbolizing the Ministry’s strong support for the growth of strength sports in Malaysia.
The official opening ceremony was officiated by Dr. Vellapandian A/L Ponnusamy, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Sports Institute (ISN), representing the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Hannah Yeoh. In his address, Dr. Vellapandian emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to advancing strength sports as a key platform for athlete development and international representation.
Organized by the Malaysia’s Strongestman Association (MSA) with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia through the Sports Matching Grant, the championship featured over 44 athletes from across the nation competing in iconic events such as Log Press, Duck Walk, Deadlift, and Truck Pull. The event also served as a selection platform for athletes who will represent Malaysia at international competitions next year, proving that Malaysian strength athletes are ready to stand tall on the world stage.
