SARIKEI, SARAWAK – Sarikei Strongman 2026 brought together some of the region’s strongest athletes on 8 August 2026, with competitors battling for top honours in two men’s categories — Men’s Open and Men’s U90kg.
Sarawak athletes dominated the competition, claiming nine out of the 10 Top 5 positions across both categories. Mohd Faizal Bacho of Sabah was the only athlete from outside Sarawak to break into the Top 5.
Yong Chee Hang Wins Men’s Open
In the highly competitive Men’s Open category, Yong Chee Hang delivered an impressive performance to emerge as the overall champion.
Fedrick Ajang secured second place, while Rodney Rampai completed the podium in third. Richmond Toty and Joe Firdaus finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Mohd Redzuan Claims U90kg Championship
The Men’s U90kg category was won by Mohd Redzuan B. Rosli, who secured the top spot ahead of a strong field of competitors.
Hamzah B. Supermijan finished as runner-up, while Frankie Meripa took third place.
Sabah’s Mohd Faizal Bacho produced a strong showing to finish fourth, making him the only non-Sarawak athlete among the Top 10 finishers across the two categories. Abdul Waffi B. Abdul Majid completed the U90kg Top 5.

Sarawak Athletes Dominate Sarikei Strongman 2026
The results once again highlight the strength and depth of the strongman community in Sarawak. With nine of the 10 Top 5 positions across both categories claimed by Sarawak athletes, the state continues to produce a strong pool of competitive strength athletes.
Mohd Faizal Bacho’s fourth-place finish in the U90kg category also provided Sabah with representation among the leading finishers.
Competitions such as Sarikei Strongman provide an important platform for athletes to test their strength, gain competitive experience and further develop the strongman scene in East Malaysia.
